Work in summer is work-and-work

Summer sounds with aperitif on the terrace, stroll by the seaside , and bathing in a paradise for many French. Nevertheless, according to a European sociological study Brand2life for the site of sales of events Groupon , 62% of the French have difficulty to take advantage of the summer . And for half of them, the main obstacle to full development during the summer is labor . And yes, when some go to get the pill in the sun, 33% of French respondents say they do overtime in the evening. Even during the lunch break where they could enjoy the sun, 28% of the French prefer to eat in front of their computer, in the office . Even worse in the countries bordering on France, 50% of Italians, 49% of Germans, 47% of Spaniards and 46% of British people never go out for lunch outside the office during the summer , saying they can not afford take a break during work.

Summer in front of the TV

When they do not work, most of the French respondents stay cloistered at home. On weekends, the French spend only 4.5 hours per day outdoors , only 1 hour more than in winter. The fault on the screens , much more courted than the summer sun and the lengthened days.

- This summer, more than 6 out of 10 French people spend 1 to 5 hours a day in front of the TV , or 2.7 hours on average over a day
- Smartphones and tablets are not left behind as 53.2% of French respondents will stay up to 2 hours a day in front of these small screens

And our grandparents and our children are not spared by this lure of the screen. When the over-55s get excited about television , the 18-24 year-olds are beating the record of time spent in front of their phones and tablets.

Going out in summer, it does nevertheless envy

What is astonishing in this sociological study is that the French interviewees have desires elsewhere.

- 71.5% dream of tasting an ice cream (yes the simple pleasures of life)
- 70.5% dream of devouring a good barbecue
- 67.6% wished only one thing, sunbathing in the sun

However, 62% of French people say they do not have enough time to spend with their loved ones during the summer . Worse still, 32% think that children spend too much time locked up , glued in front of screens (the dogs do not make cats). But no need to go far to fully enjoy the summer.
