While the rainy season has just begun, we are afraid to see our damaged suede shoes . Overview of simple methods to take great care.
1 - Brush, brush, brush
If you're like us, the last time you brushed anything other than your eyebrows goes back to 2014. For visible fiber models, rely on a soft-bristled brush to clean the tracks of mud, dust and other dirt. A wire brush works perfectly on fine suede, but be careful not to rub frantically at the risk of leaving marks. And always brush in the direction of the grain.
2- Go on the attack with your nail file
The mud has dried and leaves a trace impossible to remove with a simple brush? Do not worry, dried residues can be treated more aggressively with a nail file or sandpaper. As with the brush, go gently.
3- Flee the water
Anyone who has already been in the rain with pretty little suede ankle boots will tell you: do not try the experience. The water abyss and discolor the deer in no time.
4- Direction the kitchen
Ignore the previous rule and mix two tablespoons of water with a tablespoon of white vinegar. Gently apply the mixture to the stain and let it air dry. Your shoes will be like new! And it's the shoe giant Clarks who says it.
5- Remember to waterproof your shoes
As it is often repeated, prevention is better than cure. The best way to avoid damaging your suede shoes is to waterproof them before use. To be repeated several times a year.
