Created in the 90s by Les Mills, Body Combat combines intense cardio training with high level martial arts such as karate, boxing and taekwendo.

In front of us, no opponent. One carries out foot-fist movements "in the airs" without risking to knock out anyone. The key: a more toned, muscular body and ninja reflexes!

What is a Body Combat Course?

The 55-minute course is divided into three parts: a warm-up phase, during which we learn the movements while preparing his body, a very intensive combat phase during which we link the movements, combining endurance, power and speed. Finally, the class finishes with ground exercises and stretching exercises.

Why do we do it?

The entire abdominal strap is particularly stressed by the movements of combat, since it is necessary to contract the abdominals to maintain good posture and balance. The arms, back, shoulders and legs are worked equally by kicks and punches. It is an excellent discipline to work on his coordination, but also his cardio, which is widely used throughout the course.

The Body Combat being a particularly intensive sport, energy expenditure is very important. We can hope to burn up to 750 calories in less than an hour. As for the results, the first ones are visible in a few weeks, then in 3 to 6 months the body changes radically.

Before embarking, it is essential to invest in a good pair of sneakers, so as to protect the ankle, and opt for a close fit to not hinder movements.

Some precautions to take

The Body Combat is not an easy discipline and within reach of the sportsman of Sunday, it is therefore reserved for people already very sporting at the base. However, some gyms offer courses adapted to different levels, and the coach will accompany us to the best that we are novice or seasoned. Avoid in case of muscle pain, bone or a history of heart problems (except medical advice).
