Cancer screening: knowing when is the right time

To prevent the risk of cancer, the National Cancer Institute (INCA) has developed a simple and fast web tool , allowing in just a few clicks, to know the screenings to be done according to his profile. To do this, simply go to the website https://vosconseilsdeistage.e-cancer.fr/ , indicate its sex and age to know what type (s) of screening (s) to privilege. For example, for a 40-year-old woman, it is recommended to perform:
cervical screening for cervical cancer every 3 years up to 65 years,
- a breast examination (by palpation) every year,
- monitor his moles.

This web tool is well done and even offers information on each screening. For example, for cervical cancer screening , the CNIB explains its usefulness, its practice and its average cost . Information that is also found in memo cards, flyers and leaflets made available by the Institute in the waiting rooms of medical practices .

Be careful, however, these screening tips are obviously worth that in the absence of symptoms or particular risks related to a personal or family history. A lump in the breast, a mole takes on a bad appearance, a pain that persists ... so many symptoms that must be taken seriously and followed by a medical consultation.

Cancer screening can save lives

In 2015 , the CNIB estimates the number of new cancer cases at 385,000 and the number of deaths from this disease at 149,500 . Figures that tend to stabilize or decrease: the mortality rate for men is steadily decreasing by 1.5% per year (between 1980 and 2012) and 1% among women. This decline can be explained by advances in cancer research (154 million euros were allocated to cancer research in 2015) and better cancer management thanks to an increase in early screening .
