Cement tiles ? This is the big decoration trend of the moment. The proof ? We see everywhere and in every room. From floor to ceiling, from the bathroom to the kitchen, cement tile is the star of the house. You are told how to adopt in your home this decorative trend that gives a room a touch.

The comeback of the cement tile in deco

The first cement tiles dating from the nineteenth century. It was during the World Fair in Paris in 1867 that a Barcelona company introduced the ancestor of cement tile: a resistant tile that can replace marble or stone in homes. Rapidly the process develops ... and we have the choice between several formats. There is the traditional tile of 20 × 20 cm, but there are also tiles of 10 × 10, 15 × 15, 25 × 25, even 40 × 40 cm . Side reasons, the range is surprisingly large for such a small area: geometric or vegetal forms, inspired by motifs from the Middle Ages, very fashionable in the nineteenth century. These tiles were designed using a cloisonné technique, that is to say that the colored mixtures are poured into the compartments of an iron mold which allows delimiting the pattern. Originally, cement tiles were used to reproduce a sort of carpet on the floor, made of similar tiles and patterns.

Hyper popular, the cement tile has quickly made a place in our family homes. But as the modes pass (and pass ...), the cement tile has experienced darker hours, so much so that it has often been removed in favor of more modern soils. The good news ? This is because we do not have to keep precious old cement tiles from the ground to adopt the trend. Recycled as a daily object or inspiration for the reasons, cement tiles are now available in multiple decorative objects. In gray variations of black, white and gray, multicolored version ... There is something for everyone!
