Perfect for a quick bite or a gourmet brunch, French toast is a recipe made from bread dipped in egg and milk. So far it's pretty simple. Except that to make a good French toast, you have to respect certain rules of gold. You are told everything you need to know to never miss your toast.

Tip 1: Stale bread is used

French toast is an anti-waste recipe! The perfect opportunity to recycle leftovers as much as this greed is much better with stale bread, which needs to be rehydrated, and therefore better absorbs the preparation. For a soft and tasty French toast, cut the stale bread in fairly thick slices and let it imbibe well on both sides.

Tip 2: Fat is life!

The light version French toast? Especially not ! It takes fat and sugar to make it good! So we use milk, if possible whole (or a cream-milk mixture, 25 cl in all), beaten with 1 large egg (for 4 slices of bread). And there is butter and brown sugar for cooking. For a more gourmet version, you can flavor the milk with rum or vanilla and decline the recipe with brioche.

Tip 3: Perfect cooking

No precipitation, we proceed in batches of 1 or 2 loaf (s) lost (s) maximum. In a nonstick skillet, which has previously been heated, a nice knob of butter is melted and the bread is caught on high heat. For it to be good, it must crackle! At this point, add a little brown sugar on each side and return to caramelize. To taste illico is much better!
