Kevin Kisner holds a one-shot lead going into the final round of the US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

The American had to settle for a one-over-par 72 in his third round after he doubled-bogeyed the 16th and bogeyed the 18th.

Kisner is seven-under-par, one shot clear of compatriot Chris Stroud and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama.

Justin Thomas hit a third round 69 to put himself in contention going into the final day as he sits two shots off the lead, alongside South African Louis Oosthuizen.

Jordan Spieth goes into the final round three-over-par and his hopes of breaking Tiger Woods' record as the youngest career Grand Slam champion appear over as he is 10 shots adrift of Kisner, with Rory McIlroy a shot further back.
