The word "meditation", derived from Latin "meditatio", which means "reflection", is often associated with soft medicine or spirituality.

In practice, it is a question of disciplining the body, in order to concentrate the mind on a specific object and to be able to bring all its attention to the present moment. And the exercise is sometimes difficult for beginners: a noise that disturbs, a physical sensation that disturbs, jostling thoughts ... difficult to ignore external stimuli and very pragmatic concerns of everyday life.

In other words, meditation is more a mental gymnastic than a purely spiritual practice. The first benefit of this training? Develop your concentration skills, of course! Finished wasting time and wasting energy: we perform our daily tasks with greater efficiency.

The mind as a source of energy

If meditation initially requires some effort and discipline, in the collective imagination, it is nonetheless associated with relaxation.

And for good reason: when he focuses on a targeted thought, the mind is suddenly relieved of its agitation. This inner calmness relaxes accumulated tensions and attains physical, psychological and emotional well-being. This mental training is therefore an effective antidote to one of the evils of our time: stress.

We refocus, we evacuate, we protect ourselves. Because meditation is not only an effective remedy for eliminating the damage caused by stress: it also helps to anticipate them. A moment of apprehension before an important event? With practice, it is possible to bet on the mind to mobilize its resources and channel its energy.

We recharge the batteries, and we are in full possession of its resources when taking action.

Self-esteem reboosted

A calm mind, a controlled mind, increased concentration and greater efficiency ... but not only.

Regular mental training also helps to develop learning abilities. And meditation of course encourages introspection and self-awareness. So many ingredients that bring more confidence: thus, through mental training, we care for both consciousness and self-esteem.

Enhanced immunity

To practice meditation everyday is to hold fear and anxiety at a distance. And that's good for morale ... and it's good for the body.

A researcher at Harvard, cardiologist Herbert Benson was the first to demonstrate that meditation can reduce high blood pressure, but also cholesterol, drug dependence and anxiety.

Results confirmed by many other studies. For example, in 2003 research at the University of Wisconsin found that by regulating the cerebral center of emotions, mental training strengthens the immune system. In particular, there has been a noticeable decline in cardiovascular diseases and increased resistance to infectious diseases.

Relationships calmed

By allowing emotions to be controlled and regulated, meditation does not just promote good physical health.

By taking care of the mind through regular practice, one reaches a constant emotional balance.

By cultivating serenity and equality of mood, one benefits from a better quality of listening.

And no longer being at the mercy of an untimely emotional reaction, we are more likely to maintain healthy and peaceful relationships.

Good for morale and good for health, meditation does not just offer us a well-being in everyday life: it is also our entourage who benefits.
