The stroke of genius

In 1954, the Lever Brothers group acquired a French patent to develop a brand new bread. Originally, this soap-free product formulated with mild synthetic detergent agents (hence its name "syndet"), which was born during the Pacific War, was destined for the Marines because it had the power to foam in the water of unlike traditional soaps. He was also famous for washing the skin without attacking him. Based on this new technology, Lever Brothers creates the first toaster for the general public. This one was born in 1957 under the mark Dove. A name that includes the name of a soap factory bought a few years ago in the Netherlands by the group, which was also chosen for its significance. In English, "dove" means a dove, a symbol of purity and sweetness.

Recipe

The Dove soap, "syndet" without soap with a neutral pH, is enriched with a quarter of a moisturizing cream with stearic acid, a lipid found naturally in the skin. It became the signature ingredient of Dove. Thanks to this combination of active ingredients, this bread cleanses the skin gently, respects the epidermis and promotes the reconstruction of its hydrolipidic film.
