When the sun points the tip of his nose, it's time to garden! But a recent study conducted by the community of do-it-yourselfers ManoMano.fr, shows us that gardening is not considered in the same way according to its region of origin ...

The French are not all ready to invest in their garden

The first result of the study is that the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region places a greater emphasis on garden purchases, followed, without any real surprise, by other regions in the South of France.
- 14% of purchases for the garden (flowers, plants, furniture etc.) were made between 2014 and 2016 on the site ManoMano.fr, by inhabitants of the Auvergne-Rhône Alpes region.
- The inhabitants of the Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou-Charentes and Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi Pyrenees regions represent an equal share of 12% of buyers of garden products.
- Finally, 11% of buyers come from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.

Sunshine longer, higher temperatures throughout the year ... the regions in the south of France benefit longer from their garden. But the same can not be said for the northern and central regions. The inhabitants of the Pays de la Loire , Normandy , Center-Val de Loire and Brittany regions account for 5% of the garden purchases made on the site.

The garden: a pleasure for the French

Gardening and France are fairly good, for 74% of respondents, gardening is above all a pleasure .
- 48% of the French believe that their space of greenery is used to grow flowers .
- 43% report that they are mainly used to grow fruits and vegetables .
- Moreover, at a time when the trend is organic, 28 % of respondents garden to eat healthily .
- And as the garden rhymes with pleasure: 58% of the respondents declare to welcome in their garden, family and friends, for a meal or a barbecue.

No need for a garden for gardening

But since the French do not all have a garden, there are more and more possibilities to get there anyway. Many communal gardens flourish in large cities to allow those who do not have gardens to indulge in gardening. Ditto for those with a balcony or terrace: it is possible to plant almost everything you want in suitable pots. Ikea also signs a brand new range of kitchen gardens specially designed for the interior. Also, in March 2016, the municipality of Paris distributed free 30,000 bags of seeds for balconies and terraces. Objective: to flourish the capital .
