In Chinese, feng shui means "wind and water". Originally, this ancient Chinese art allowed to choose the right place to erect his home according to the 5 elements. Today, the principles of feng shui apply to the interior space and allow to create a healthy and balanced environment.

How it works ?

Feng Shui is based on the existence of a harmonious energy flow: the Chi embodies the vital energy . According to the colors, the light is different and influences the Chi which acts on our state of mind. The brighter a color is , the more it will be 'yang' and bring energy. The softer and softer the color , the more it will be 'yin' and bring some rest. If this type of distinction makes it possible to define the perfect color for each piece, black and white must be taken apart.

  • White symbolizes both purity, justice and authority. But, contrary to popular belief, a 100% white piece is not feng-shui because the color brings a feeling of emptiness ... In total look, we reserve it to the toilet, and in other parts of the house, we mix the white with touches of colors and suitable materials.
  • Black symbolizes both introspection and lack of hope. In addition, this color 'shrinks' the space. It is used in small keys.

What colors for the bedroom, the office, the living room?

Rest, relaxation, concentration ... the ambiances sought in the living room, bedroom or office are roughly similar. We want to have the free field to leave all the space for the ramblings of the mind or the constructive reflections.

  • blue is the color 'yin' par excellence! It is very suitable for an office or a library. On the other hand, she is banished from the couple's room: she would put 'water in the gas'!
  • the rose symbolizes carnal contact. So we validate the rose in the bedroom and even in the bathroom, temple of well-being.
  • purple is associated with spirituality. Perfect for living room or library type meditation rooms. We boycott him in the office to avoid being disconnected!
  • brown is the color of stability, maturity but also comfort. No part is forbidden to him but it is especially well seen in the rooms intended for the reflection.
  • gray is associated with wisdom and meditation. Perfect for the library, bedroom or living room.

What colors for the entrance, the dining room?

The colors 'yang' brings dynamism and movement , so we prefer them in the rooms of passage, games, physical and manual activities.

  • the yellow inspires recognition, spirituality and wisdom. This color would also improve communication. Little wonder then that we can put a little everywhere: living room, entrance, dining room ... everything suits him (and vice versa)!
  • green is associated with youth and growth and stimulates creativity and change. Unsurprisingly, we recommend it for children's rooms and teenagers!
  • red is the color of passion, celebration and vitality but also power. It is put in the living room, the office, the entrance and even, by small touches, in the bedroom.
  • the orange symbolizes movement ... and inconstancy! It avoids the rooms and the office, but in small touches, this color is well suited to the living room and the entrance.

Feng-shui is not just about colors. The orientation of the room, the layout of the furniture, the materials and so on also play an important role. Before embarking on major painting work it is better to take into account these aspects.
