The advantages and disadvantages of salt
Each year, overconsumption of salt would result in several thousand cardiovascular events. This social problem is therefore to be taken into consideration. The sodium contained in salt has indeed particularly negative consequences on our body. For example, it is the cause of water retention, accelerates skin aging, decreases the elasticity of tissues, promotes edema and high blood pressure. Excess salt can also cause kidney or heart failure, osteoporosis or even cancer.
If there are many risks, do not ban salt from its diet. The human body needs 2 to 7 grams of salt a day. Salt deficiency can interfere with kidney function, or promote dehydration.

Which foods are high in salt?
If there is overconsumption of salt, it is because we find it everywhere. Preserves, meats, bread, breakfast cereals or cheeses contain salt. The prepared dishes are also particularly rich. We must be vigilant. It is certainly advisable to avoid adding salt when cooking or even at the table, but it is not enough. Because your table salt is not the only one involved: you must also monitor the composition of all your food. Be aware that vegetable or beef broths, soy sauces, sausages, mustard and anchovy fillets are among the most salty foods.
