1.5 tons of soap collected in 1 year

In launching the ANACAONA project last year, Laure Bottinelli and her associates did not expect such support: in the corridors of the large hotels, the maids were really mobilized to recover the used soaps. In Haiti, 80% of the waste is not picked up and ends up on the street ...

Small hands all clean

Cleansed, refreshed and re-pressed , the soaps are distributed free of charge to partner schools that lack basic hygiene products. There, children are trained to learn how to wash their hands and protect themselves effectively from cholera . The soap collected can also be repackaged with local products, such as sisal, coffee or moringa, for example, and then packed with Haiti materials and then resold. The profits make it possible to buy ceramic water filters, manufactured locally and distributed to schools. Good news: Laure has just received the license to sell to the export and will thus be able to multiply its points of sale.

Women with children first

But if ANACAONA bears so well the name of this queen martyr, known for her courage and intelligence, it is because the social enterprise employs in its workshops only women raising their children alone. A real breathing in their difficult daily.
