Upon his arrival in 2005, the artistic director Riccardo Tisci had already struck the minds of fashionistas with a big blow by imagining the Nightingale bag. But after such a success, it's not easy to repeat the experience without risking burning your wings or seeing a swarm of disappointed fans commenting on you.

Yet, the creator did not let himself be impressed. And he did well, since in 2011, he reiterated his coup by offering the Antigona. A real master stroke, some say. If everyone was waiting at the turn, Riccardo Tisci seems indeed to have several strings to his bow. This mixed bowling bag has conquered its audience with its clean lines and sober. With two handles and a shoulder strap, the new it-bag is worn throughout the day with a nonchalant elegance that befits so well at home Givenchy.

AN ICONIC BAG

Buoyed by the success of the Nightingale bag, released in 2005, the Givenchy house launches in 2011 a new it-bag called Antigona. Made in Italy, this rugged leather bag, lined with sturdy canvas, has a bowling shape with graphic lines, a zipper and two short and rigid handles relayed by a removable shoulder strap.

Since then, the Antigona bag is one of the most iconic models of the brand and appears on the shoulders of the greatest celebrities: Rihanna, Amanda Seyfried, Kelly Rowland, Nicole Richie or Charlize Theron .

THE HISTORY OF A HOUSE IN THE FRENCH

The name of Givenchy is primarily related to haute couture. Born in 1927, Hubert de Givenchy made his debut in the footsteps of the most illustrious creators of the moment such Jacques Fath, Robert Piguet, Lucien Lelong and Elsa Schiaparelli . With several years of experience in the confection, he opened his Parisian shop in 1951 and soon began to walk behind the scenes of the first fashion shows with his creations. His model Bettina blouse will also be his first public success that will succeed many others: the separable, the dress shirt, the dress bag, the short suit ...

To develop his brand booming, Givenchy decided to embark on perfumery in 1957. Avant-garde and visionary, the creator hit the headlines with the perfume "L'Interdit" for which he will be the first to use the image of an actress, in this case Audrey Hepburn , for promotional purposes.

A PERFECTLY ENSURED SURVIVAL

After having been sold to the LVMH group in 1988, the Givenchy house bids farewell to its founder who decides to give up the reins of his company. In turn, genius creators follow one another at his head. John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Julien Macdonald, Ozwald Boateng ... Only the best people to launch the brand of ready-to-wear and haute couture in the 21st century era.

Today, it is under the direction of Riccardo Tisci that the brand flourishes and continues its path oscillating between modernity, elegance and romance. Bringing a more graphic leg and a gothic chic inspiration, the creator relies on solid foundations which he revisits and declines with talent. The master's inheritance is in good hands and seems to have a good year ahead of him.
